10:25 - Alice’s All-Electric Home in a cohousing community was updated by ReBuilding Together; they installed an all-in-one heat pump HVAC, a small electric tank water heater under the kitchen counter, and a two-burner induction cooktop. 10:45 - Virginia’s Home features a Harvest Thermal system: a single heat pump heats both water and air, and dramatically lowers energy bills. She has rooftop solar on a reflective metal roof, a Tesla Powerwall, GE induction range, and a greywater system irrigating fruit trees. Original wood windows were refurbished, while other wood windows were made new to match originals.

Paul’s Home in Berkeley: This bungalow features solar + NeoVolta battery, a GE Profile induction range, and Kasa smart plugs to program their heated bidet seat. Paul installed his own AOSmith heat pump water heater with recirculation pump and Pioneer heat pump HVAC. EXTRA: Paul is a home inspector and DIY guy. Heat pump installer from Yellowjacket HVAC onsite for questions.

Alice Green’s Home in Berkeley CoHousing: All-electric, with an all-in-one heat pump HVAC, electric tank water heater under the kitchen counter, and two-burner induction cooktop. View the neighbor’s heat pump water heater with recirculation pump. SPECIAL EXTRAS: Channing Street Copper Charlie range (120V stove w backup battery) demo in the yard! And community solar! Jenny’s ADU, Berkeley: This ADU features a metal roof, outdoor bike shed for bike commuters, a shared solar PV system and heat pump water heater with the main house, Fireclay tile, a low-carbon footprint concrete floors, nook table made of reclaimed wood, and baseboard heating (ADU requires very little heat due to insulation.) EXTRA: Architect Sarah Deeds will be present!

Peter & Andrea’s Home, Berkeley: Down-to-the-studs remodel (in progress) of 1905 bungalow: Vetrazzo countertops, glass pendants from Metro Lighting, Steller removable wood flooring planks, condensation dryer, heated bathroom floor, EV charger, solar tube lighting, heat pump HVAC and water heater, button-activated hot water recirculation pump. Markos’ Home, Berkeley: Home totally remodeled with thickly insulated walls. A single ductless Mitsubishi heat pump ceiling cassette heats/cools the whole living place. Sanden heat pump water heater, solar + Tesla Powerwall batteries, a GE Cafe Series induction cooktop, and all-in-one clothes washer/dryer fits in a closet. Amy & Will’s Home, Oakland: 1920s bungalow features ducted heat pump HVAC, heat pump water heater (Sanden), LG induction range, heat pump clothes dryer, laundry-to-landscape greywater system, electric fireplace, bike garage, urbanite landscaping, solar, EV charger, and Fireclay tiles. Silas’ Home, Oakland: Silas turned his condo all-electric (with lots of DIY), including an induction stove, all-in-one heat pump unit, heat recovery ventilation system, insulation/leak sealing, and heat pump water heater shared with all other condos in the building. EXTRA: Ask Silas how he convinced his condo assoc. to install a shared heat pump water heater system, and his load-shifting strategies to save energy.

Stefanie’s Home, San Leandro: This all-electric home, surrounded by a gorgeous native garden, features heat pump minisplits, a Rheem heat pump water heater, large rainwater collection tanks, and an induction range. EXTRA: Stefanie’s SPAN smart electric panel monitors and controls the solar + battery system.

Pierre and Estella’s Home, Berkeley: This all-electric home features solar panels + battery, a ducted Fujitsu heat pump, Stiebel Eltron electric tankless water heater in attic, Bosch 2-gallon electric water heater under kitchen sink, GE Profile induction range, and EV charging. EXTRA: Pierre’s home has an e-gauge to monitor electric consumption as part of nationwide research. 

Jim’s Home, Piedmont: This home features solar panels + Neovolta lithium iron battery, induction range, whole attic fan, and a Harvest Thermal heat pump/thermal battery system (a single heat pump heats both water and air, and dramatically lowers energy bills). EXTRA: A rep from Harvest heat pump system will be onsite to answer questions.

Katharine’s Home, Albany: This home features a heat pump HVAC system, with both ducted and ductless/mini-split portions, a heat pump water heater, portable induction stove, reflective roof, low water landscape, reclaimed water strategies, and laundry drying rack. EXTRA: Rep from Electrify My Home (heat pump installers) will be present!

Weldon’s Home, Oakland: This home features a heat pump water heater, a 120v heat pump washer-dryer combo, a 120v Channing Street Copper induction range, rooftop solar and a yard full of food production – 10 fruit trees and raised bed gardens. EXTRA: Weldon’s range and washer/dryer are game changers for making it easy to electrify! The stove’s battery allows them to cook during power outages.
