Markos’ Home in Berkeley
Markos’ home was a down-to-the-studs remodel, designed by architect Sarah Van Laanen and built by contractor Carlos Castellanos. Walls were thickened for increased insulation, inspired by passive house strategies to shrink the energy footprint.

Heat Pump HVAC: Mitsubishi, installed by Atlas Heating and Air Conditioning. One ductless ceiling cassette serves whole upstairs living space. One ductless wall unit serves downstairs studio.
