Jenny’s ADU in Berkeley

Jenny’s all-electric ADU was designed by architect Sarah Deeds and built by contractor John McBride.

ENERGY & EFFICIENCY

• Rooftop solar array: Ally Solar of Berkeley (shared with main house)

• Energy Star washing machine: Bosch WAT28400UC purchased at and installed by Galvin Appliance

• Highly insulated with cellulose insulation

ELECTRIFICATION

• Heat pump water heater shared with main house

• Heated with electric baseboards (ADU requires very little heat due to insulation)

SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

• Metal standing seam roof (durable, recyclable)

• Fireclay tile in kitchen: Zero Waste, Climate Neutral Certified, B-Corp, recycled content

• Concrete floors with lower embodied carbon footprint (due to using fly ash in the mix)

• All wood in ADU FSC-certified wood

• Reclaimed wood for nook tabletop
